MRHA Seeks Community Voices to Help Shape Local Healthcare

August 13, 2025

Almonte & Carleton Place, ON The Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA), which includes Almonte General Hospital (AGH), Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH), Fairview Manor (FVM), and Lanark County Paramedic Service (LCPS), is inviting community members to join its Patient and Family Advisory Committee (PFAC).

PFAC brings together patients, caregivers, and family members who have experienced care at MRHA facilities. These volunteers share their unique perspectives to help shape policies, programs, and services, ensuring care is compassionate, accessible, and patient-focused.

“Joining PFAC gives community members a meaningful way to contribute to improving care,” says Allan Rae, PFAC Chair. “Our members bring valuable insights from their own healthcare experiences, and together we work with MRHA leaders to make a real difference for patients, residents, and families across the region.”

PFAC members work closely with MRHA leaders and staff to:

· Provide feedback on policies, patient materials, and care pathways

· Advise on facility signage, accessibility, and patient experience initiatives

· Ensure the patient voice is embedded in decisions that impact care

The committee meets about five times a year, both virtually and in person. No special qualifications are required, just a willingness to share your experiences and help improve local healthcare.

MRHA is committed to building a PFAC that reflects the diverse communities it serves, and welcomes individuals from all backgrounds and life experiences to apply.
