MRHA Unveils New 2026-2030 Strategic Plan to Guide the Future of Care Close to Home

February 10, 2026

Almonte and Carleton Place, ON – The Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA) is proud to introduce its 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, a bold and forward-looking roadmap that will guide the organization over the next five years as it continues to deliver quality healthcare close to home.

This is the MRHA’s first new Strategic Plan since 2016 and comes at a pivotal time for healthcare. As communities grow and evolve and pressures on the healthcare system continue to increase, the Plan sets a clear, shared direction for how the MRHA will move forward with focus, collaboration, and confidence.

Developed through extensive engagement with staff, medical staff, patients, families, partners, and community members, the Strategic Plan reflects both the realities facing healthcare today and a strong sense of optimism about what can be achieved together.

“This Strategic Plan is something I’m excited and proud to share,” said Brad Harrington, President and CEO of the Mississippi River Health Alliance. “It reflects what we heard from our people and our communities, and it gives us a clear and confident path forward. It’s about strengthening access to care close to home, supporting the incredible people who deliver that care, and planning responsibly so our healthcare system remains strong and sustainable for years to come.”

The 2026–2030 Strategic Plan is grounded in the MRHA’s purpose — Proudly providing your healthcare close to home — and guided by five new core values: Care with Heart, Welcome Everyone, Commit to Our Best, Rise to the Challenge, and Create Impact Together. Together, these new values will shape how the MRHA will work, lead, and make decisions across the Alliance.

The Plan focuses on four key strategic directions:

· Providing access to quality healthcare for communities across the region

· Fostering a collaborative working environment where people feel supported, valued, and appreciated

· Enabling teams through improved processes, technology, and infrastructure

· Securing fiscal and operational sustainability to protect and strengthen local services

“This Plan represents a shared commitment to the future of healthcare in our communities,” said Michel Vermette, Chair of the MRHA Allied Boards of Directors. “It sets clear priorities and provides the foundation we need to make thoughtful, responsible decisions while staying true to our new values and our purpose.”

Rather than outlining immediate changes, the Strategic Plan serves as a long-term guide for decision-making and priority-setting across the MRHA. Implementation will occur over time, with progress reflected through annual planning, operational initiatives, and ongoing updates.
