Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital Earns National Echocardiography Accreditation

March 16, 2026

Carleton Place, ON – Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH), part of the Mississippi River Health Alliance (MRHA), has received national accreditation in echocardiography from Accreditation Canada Diagnostics through its Echocardiography Quality Improvement (EQI) Program.

The accreditation confirms that CPDMH's Diagnostic Imaging department meets the national Standards for Provision of Echocardiography (2021) for transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). The certificate was issued December 18, 2025 and is valid through November 29, 2029.

Transthoracic echocardiography is a non-invasive heart ultrasound used to assess heart structure and function. It is one of the most common cardiac diagnostic tests performed in community hospitals, playing a critical role in diagnosing and managing a wide range of cardiac conditions.

For residents of Carleton Place and the surrounding region, this accreditation means patients can access high-quality cardiac diagnostic imaging services locally, without needing to travel to larger urban centres.

"This accreditation reflects the expertise and dedication of our Diagnostic Imaging team," said Brad Harrington, President and CEO of the Mississippi River Health Alliance. "It demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing safe, high-quality diagnostic services for the patients and communities we serve."

Accreditation Canada Diagnostics is an independent national organization that develops standards and evaluates diagnostic imaging services across Canada. Accreditation through its programs requires diagnostic imaging departments to undergo rigorous evaluation of clinical protocols, equipment standards, quality assurance practices, and patient safety measures.

The Mississippi River Health Alliance congratulates the entire CPDMH Diagnostic Imaging team whose expertise and dedication made this achievement possible.
